Responsibilities and behavior
Behavior on duty
-Be alert and don't socialize (talk to/or with others)
-Respect and obey your officers
-Stand at complete attention and salute the flags when the flags go up in the morning and when they come down in the afternoon.
-Do not open vehicle doors until vehicle has come to a COMPLETE STOP.
-Once a vehicle has come to a complete stop, open the door and step back. If students don't shut their doors, then shut the doors so that the vehicle may go.
-Always be aware of the students waiting for their ride in the afternoon. They must load and unload in the loading and unloading zone only.
-If a vehicle stops far away from the curb, DO NOT assist with the door for safety reasons.
-While on crosswalk duty be sure to encourage the use of the crosswalk at all times. If you see someone parking in the teachers stalls please ask them to park on the side street or the mall parking lot closest to the school.
-While on bus duty be sure to help keep the students orderly while they wait to board the bus. NO HORSE PLAYING.
-While on duty encourage the students to walk at all times.
SCHOOL COMES FIRST!
JPOs are expected to follow and obey all school rules. You are expected to be an example of a good student because the other students look up to you. You are to keep up with all of your class and homework assignments. If you are having trouble keeping up, you are expected to go to your teachers for help right away. Don't delay. Teachers will inform the advisors of any concerns they may have with any JPO. The advisor shall follow up on concerns and take actions accordingly if necessary. JPOs are expected to notify their advisor of any concerns they may have with fellow JPOs or officers.
Referrals to the office may result in being released as a JPO. Depending on the situation.
1st offense - JPO will be counseled.
2nd offense - Parent and JPO will be notified.
3rd offense - JPO will be released.

JPO's at He'eia in cooperation with the Honolulu police department concentrate on pedestrian safety. duties include:
