ALL ABOUT HE'EIA
Dr. Seuss’s Birthday Celebration
He’eia School will once again be celebrating Dr. Seuss’s birthday on Friday, March 7, 2016. The day begins with a signature Dr. Seuss breakfast of “green eggs and ham.” Our Guest Readers will visit the classrooms to share a Dr. Seuss book beginning at 8:15. We would like to invite our He’eia Parents and family members to be a guest reader. If you’re interested in reading to your child’s class, please speak to your child’s teacher to arrange a time to share your book and ensure a smooth schedule for the day. We conclude our celebration with an ice cream dessert at lunchtime for all of the students.
We have our annual Dr. Seuss day on Friday, March 4th. We are looking for volunteers who would love to read to our children on this day. If you are interested and have time to spare, please see your child(ren)’s Teacher, Ms. Lee (Curriculum Coordinator D216), or Ms. Lee (Kindergarten teacher-Rm. 102). If you are in the military and would like to open it up to personnel that would love to avail themselves for this event, please see Ms. Tee…she will give an official invite for military personnel.
ACCESS for ELLs Testing Period
All ELL students will be taking the ACCESS for ELLs proficiency test during the period of January 19 to February 26th, 2016. This test is for students whose first or home language is not English and measures their ability to use the English language. It will help teachers identify areas where support may be needed and also helps the school monitor the students’ annual progress. Parents can help their child prepare for the test by making sure each child gets plenty of rest each night, eats a good breakfast, and gets to school on time. If you have any questions, please contact Elizabeth Lee at 233-5677 ext. 251.
